On Wednesday 26th July, Portsmouth City Council held their Family Hubs Family Fun Afternoon event, held to launch the range of new services, groups and activities available to all Portsmouth families who visit any of the city’s five Family Hubs.

Family Hubs provide support to families across the city, including health services, support for new and expectant parents, and access to advice in areas such as managing finance and housing.

The event included a range of fun activities for the whole family to enjoy, including the creation of Bug Hotels, which the children designed and created using pringles cans. As part of this activity, PCC’s Children & Education Team asked Mountjoy to build and donate two wooden houses, to display the children’s creations.

Apprentice Carpenter, Leanne Furneaux, completed the structures, allowing for the children’s Bug Hotels to be given pride of place at the event.
