Mountjoy has been awarded a contract by the Parochial Council of Holy Saviour Church, Bitterne to construct an 80m² extension onto the Grade II listed Church in Southampton.

The addition of the two-storey extension will provide a more flexible worship space with a new first-floor office and welcome space, meeting rooms and new toilet and kitchen facilities. A new platform lift will also be installed to provide accessibility for all building users. Internally, the project will see the existing parish building modernised with replacement doors, carpet and vinyl floor finishes, new fitted furniture and new heating, lighting and audio-visual equipment.

The project is due to commence in late January 2021 and will run through to the autumn. It is a welcome addition to Mountjoy’s growing portfolio of works in ecclesiastical environments, which in recent years has included the refurbishment of St Michael’s and All Angels Church in Portchester and an extension to Farnham Baptist Church.
