In Summer 2022 Mountjoy completed two refurbishment projects with the University of Portsmouth, and Solent University, to help create additional space for staff and students.

The University of Portsmouth appointed Mountjoy to carry out refurbishment works to the 1st and 4th floors of their University Learning Centre between May and July. The £280k contract involved the remodelling of existing rooms to include new partitions and doors, the installation of glazed screens and new flooring, and new ventilation and AC systems, amongst other tasks. As the Learning Centre remained in use throughout the duration of the project, with exams taking place within the building, Mountjoy programmed the works to ensure there was no disruption to the students and staff.

In addition to this, between April and July Mountjoy also carried out £228k of project work for Solent University, including repair work to the Michael Andrews Building’s Sims Centre and the Reginald Mitchell Building after leaks caused significant damages. We also carried out the remodelling and refurbishment of the existing office space within the A101 building to create a new open plan office area, plus staff kitchenette and small meeting rooms. All of these projects were procured as calloffs from our existing framework with Solent University.

These most recent projects were a welcome addition to our extensive portfolio of projects working within higher education environments.
