Following a competitive tender process, Mountjoy has been awarded a £450k Design & Build contract by The Salterns Academy Trust to refurbish both the basement and art rooms at Trafalgar School in Portsmouth. Along with Trafalgar School, the Trust also operates Admiral Lord Nelson School in Portsmouth, with a combined student roll of over 2000 students.

Works to both areas at the school will commence over the summer, with completion expected towards the end of September 2021. The basement area is to be repurposed into the Compass Centre, which will provide students with a place to access support for their emotional well-being, whilst the art room will see minor additions installed including jet wash sinks and shelving. Other additions to the school will include a new Hair and Beauty salon, a new kitchenette, a new WC and a new entrance, amongst others.

The project adds to a wide-ranging list of Portsmouth school refurbishments for Mountjoy; since 2018 these have included schemes at Harbour School, Mary Rose School, Cliffdale Primary Academy and Stamshaw Junior School.
