On Friday 4th November, representatives from Mountjoy attended the opening ceremony for the new facilities that we created at Ark Ayrton Primary Academy in Portsmouth.

Ark Ayrton Academy is owned by ARK Schools, an education charity that exists to make sure that all children, regardless of their background, have access to great education and real choices in life.

Mountjoy created a new Dance Studio, Practical Room, and Library as part of our £260k project of alteration and refurbishment works, by reconfiguring the existing rooms and repurposing them accordingly. The works took place between July and September 2022.

Mountjoy’s successful delivery and completion of the project received positive feedback from stakeholders including Graham Woodhouse, Contract Administrator at Osbornes (Quantity Surveying), who commented:

“The attitude of Mountjoy […] was exemplary. The working area was kept very clean and tidy throughout minimising any potential H&S issues. All subcontractors worked well and responded to the demands of the project. [Mountjoy] kept all key personnel informed in a timely manner.”

Graham awarded us a score of 10/10 – extremely likely to recommend Mountjoy to a colleague or another organisation.

Anne H-Chapman, Executive Head Teacher at Ark Ayrton Primary Academy commented that:

“The children have continued to use the spaces and it has been wonderful to see their reaction and engagement. […] It’s important that the children understand how these things happen and we may have inspired a future architect, project manager, builder or carpenter.”

We are delighted to have received these scores and comments and look forward to providing more inspiring educational spaces in the future. Thanks to Osbornes and Ark Ayrton Primary Academy for their comments and to all who supported this project within Mountjoy and our supply chain.
