Our staff have been out at various careers and STEM fairs recently to promote the opportunities available in the construction and engineering sector.
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths, topics that the school curriculum is keen to promote especially through industry. Mountjoy took part in the Big Bang @Solent fair at Hilton at The Ageas Bowl in April, one of the Solent's biggest careers events. Our team gave school pupils a chance to interactively learn about science and engineering through two experiments, one showcasing fruit and vegetable batteries and another walking on eggs. Pupils seemed to really enjoy their day getting involved in all of the activities that businesses had on offer.
The event was run by the EBP South whose aim is to inspire and prepare young people for the world of work in partnership with key local businesses. Mountjoy has worked with EBP South for a number of years as part of our commitment to support the communities in which we work.
