Worthing Borough Council | Refurbishment of Public Conveniences
Worthing Borough Council
Construction Refurbishment Local Authority Live Environment

Mountjoy were appointed to carry out reconfiguration and refurbishment works to the existing public conveniences located within the High Street Multi-Storey car park in Worthing, on behalf of Worthing Borough Council.

Works on the project involved reconfiguring and refurbishing the existing layout of the public conveniences to include Unisex and Accessible facilities, as well as brand new changing places.

The works also involved a number of Contractor’s Design and Construct elements, including:

  • Mechanical Installations – mechanical ventilation, hot and cold water suppliers
  • Electrical Installations – small power, entrance systems, assistance call systems, heating, and lighting.
  • Drainage installations – new gullies, pipe runs and connection to existing systems.

The building remained in use throughout the works, with unaffected areas remaining open to the public. As the car park is located on a busy one way street, with the Guildbourne Shopping Centre located to the rear, there was a large amount of public footfall in the area and a consistent flow of traffic, and so careful logistical planning and effective communication with building staff and council representatives was integral to the works.
