Refurbishment Alteration Fit-out Sensitive

The Objective

Longmoor Training Camp, situated near Liphook, required the re-commissioning and refurbishment of 17 ex-married quarter domestic dwellings. The alterations were to provide a new urban training centre.

Longmoor Training Camp has a rich military history spanning back to the early 20th Century, formerly housing the 79 Railway Squadron along with other members of the Royal Engineers. Its railway, which was built for training soldiers on railway construction and operations, previously connected the camp to the mainline rail network. This was eventually closed in 1969.

The Solution

Repairs carried out as part of the project included:

  • Roof repairs
  • Replacements of soffits and fascias
  • Asbestos containing material removal
  • Installation of floor linings, ceiling linings and re-decoration
  • New external windows and doors
  • Internal fit out including heating, domestic hot and cold water supplies and electrical modifications

As an MOD facility, the site had strict protocols. Staff had to be security cleared to work on site, with key members signing the Official Secrets Act. Once on the Base, the team worked in a second secured area with high levels of security.
