Mountjoy undertook a £2.4m contract for refurbishment and alteration works on behalf of Havant and South Downs College (HSDC). The works were centred within two buildings on their South Downs campus, the Main Building and the East Building.

Works in the Main Building included improvement and refurbishment works to the building's three training kitchens, as well as works to the back of house area which received new decorations, flooring, and replacement lighting. We also delivered a new M&E package to suit the revised internal layout, and the upgrading of new ventilation, heating systems, and catering equipment.

Works in the East Building focused on the college's IOT Centre, located on the ground floor, and involved the complete renovation of engineering labs and classrooms, technicians offices and stores, and workshops. The works included improvements to the layout of the centre, as well as the installation of new M&E services, and will provide a positive and modern learning space for students, with enhanced interiors throughout.

During the first few weeks of the works, the campus remained in occupation by students and staff, and so careful logistical planning was integral to ensure the safety of all building users and minimal disruption to their daily routines. Safety methods such as external fencing and solid hoarding were installed to segregate the works areas, preventing unauthorised access.

A rigid traffic management plan was also implemented on the site, preventing congestion on the campus and ensuring that the site was kept clean and orderly. This included the careful scheduling of deliveries and assigned site staff parking spaces.
