The Objective
Mountjoy was appointed to deliver the construction of a new care home in Bordon on a vacant site. The Firefly Club Care Home is managed by Omega Elifar Ltd who provide specialist care for people with learning disabilities in Hampshire and Surrey.
The new facility built includes an 8 bed full time care unit, a 10 bed independent living unit with communal facilities, including a hydrotherapy pool, sensory room, activity room and offices. A kitchen and dining room were created with communal lounges, lift services and a car park.
The Solution
Mountjoy used a steel-frame construction for the new buildings which also include two lifts. The high dependency units are fully fitted out with hoists for beds and baths.
The team took into consideration protected trees which are on the site and created sedum roofs for the buildings and landscaping gardens.
The hoarding around the construction site allowed Omega Elifar to advertise jobs in the new facility.
