Salterns Academy Trust | Trafalgar School Refurbishment Works
The Salterns Academy Trust
Education Refurbishment Design & Build

Objective

The Salterns Academy Trust manages two schools in Portsmouth – Trafalgar School and Lord Admiral Nelson School – and required a refurbishment within the art room and basement of the former to create the Compass Centre, providing their pupils with a place to access support for their emotional well-being.

Solution

Mountjoy commenced the Design & Build project during in July 2021 whilst pupils were absent and enjoying their summer holiday. In addition to the repurposing of the basement, the art room had minor additions installed including jet wash sinks and shelving. Other alterations to the school included a new Hair and Beauty salon and a new kitchenette with the intention to offer pupils a wider range of vocational studies. The project was handed over in August 2021 enabling the new facilities to be utilised in tandem with the new academic year and refreshed curriculum.
