Ditcham Park School | Sports Hall Extension
Ditcham Park School
Construction Extension Live Environment Education

Objective

Due to an increasing pupil population and need for additional teaching spaces, Ditcham Park School in Petersfield commissioned a 489m2, two-storey extension to the Martin Pryce Sports Hall on their main campus. Following a competitive tender process and short delay due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Mountjoy commenced the project in January 2021 with a sod-cutting ceremony attended by Headteacher Graham Spawforth and a selection of pupils and Mountjoy staff.

Solution

The extension has provided a double height sports hall, an activity room, additional changing rooms and two spacious classrooms. In turn, this has released other spaces in high demand at the school, such as the South Downs Hall which is used for assemblies, catering, concerts and exams. External works have also provided a new hard playground area and a storage room for sports equipment. The school remained operational throughout the project, so appropriate safety measures were put in place to ensure pupils and staff are protected at all times.
