Mid Sussex District Council | Lift Installation at Office Complex
Mid Sussex District Council
Construction Refurbishment Local Authority Live Environment

Objective

Mid Sussex District Council were looking to improve accessibility within their main office complex in Haywards Heath for both staff and visitors. Following extensive surveys, it was concluded that a new lift would be the best method of achieving this. After participating in a competitive tender process, Mountjoy was awarded the contract to build the lift shaft and carry out associated works.

Solution

The project involved the construction of a new lift shaft and minor refurbishment works throughout the Council chambers. These works were spread across the basement through to the first floor and involved various structural alterations in order to accommodate the changes and the addition of the lift.

Health and safety was a key consideration during the project as the building was occupied by Council staff and visiting members of the public.

This is the second project Mountjoy has completed at the Oaklands complex – in 2017, we carried out external envelope repairs to the building including flat and pitch roofing renewal, replacement of Pvcu windows/doors and structural masonry repairs.
