Objective
Farnham Baptist Church is a popular community church based in central Farnham – they are “passionate about Jesus and making him known in Farnham and around the world.” In order to accommodate their growing community and the associated administration, they appointed Mountjoy to build a 150m² extension to the church to provide new worship and office space.
Solution
The project commenced in November 2019 and has provided a larger activity hall on the ground floor of the building along with a remodelled upper floor, forming new teaching areas and offices. The church congregation and community groups were temporarily relocated to allow the works to proceed.
The church was adjacent to the busy University for the Creative Arts campus and shared an adjoining car parking area with access to the public; this meant that site segregation and security remained a top priority throughout the project.
Mountjoy officially handed over the project in September 2020. A nursery and other local community groups are due to benefit from the additional space once the pandemic has subsidised.
