DISABLED ADAPTATION WORKS FOR PORTSMOUTH CITY COUNCIL

As part of Portsmouth City Council's 'Supporting People' program, Mountjoy was selected to construct a ground floor bedroom and adjacent bathroom in Tintern Close for a disabled child, to allow easier assisted care by his parents and off site care agencies.

The scope of works included the construction of a two-roomed single-storey extension at the rear of the property, installation of a fully level access bathroom, internal alterations to establish level access throughout the living areas, a new front door and access platform into the property. A new lift was fitted along with ramps and paths to enable access from the roadside to the property to compensate for the height difference of two metres.

Mountjoy's lead surveyor liaised with the parents and neighbouring residents on a daily basis. This was to ensure everyone was aware of the works being carried out, the impact on use of the property (if any) and subsequent impending works. Our clear information flow and constant communication were praised by the Council's teams involved.
